Cash, guns found during drug probe

DRUGS and ammunition were seized at a Wentworth Point property searched last month after an alleged scheme to import more than a tonne of MDMA was uncovered.

On January 11, the Australian Border Force (ABF) officers allegedly detected anomalies within a shipping container containing 648 plastic tubs labelled as tile adhesive which arrived from South Korea. They allegedly found 176 tubs each containing 6kg bags of a powder that presumptively tested positive for MDMA.
Following investigations, on February 28, Federal and State law enforcement authorities raided properties in Carlingford and Wentworth Point and seized material alleged to be substituted MDMA removed from the original shipment, along with other drugs including MDMA and cocaine, electronic devices and ammunition.
Searches at properties at Cabramatta West and Cabramatta also allegedly uncovered drugs, $250,000 in cash as well as two loaded firearms
Five men have been charged in relation to the alleged drug importation.

Hunt over stabbing
INVESTIGATIONS are underway following a stabbing at Merrylands on Sunday night.
About 8pm, emergency services were called to Merrylands Road where they found a man – allegedly armed with a machete – suffering a stab wound to his arm.
After surrendering his weapon, the man was arrested before he was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.
Police are searching for a second man who they believe may be able to assist with inquiries.

Break, enter arrest
A MAN has been charged over a number of alleged break, enter and steal offences from vehicles in the Guildford and Granville areas.
Police, who have been investigating reports over the past months of a series of break, enter and steal incidents in those areas, were conducting patrols along Railway Terrace, Guildford, when they arrested the 29-year-old.
