Boy now best in nation

YOUNG Earlwood boxer Charlie Kazzi has done it again, bringing home the 54kg Division Under 15 Australian Title last weekend at the National Games which were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland.

The Christian Brothers High School, Lewisham, student defeated the Victorian Champion in the Quarter Final, then went on to defeat the Queensland Champion in the Semi Final and then finally defeat the Western Australian Champion in the Final to capture the Australian Title.
Charlie was also selected for the Futures Squad Program as a future prospect for Commonwealth Games and Olympic Games which is quite an achievement as only two fighters are selected per state.
Ecstatic with his win, he said: “Dream it, believe it and you can achieve it. I’ve dreamt of these achievements ever since I was a baby and my goal is to keep striving to the best of my ability to achieve it. Hopefully I’ll keep progressing to greater heights and one day fight for my country.”
Dad, trainer and retired professional boxer Peter said: “Hard work always pays off. What you put in is what you get out. Charlie’s determination and drive is a major key to his success. Charlie was boxing when still in nappies.”
