Best in the business

nominations have opened for the 2020 Cumberland Local Business Awards.

FACING down more than the usual challenges nominations have opened for the 2020 Cumberland Local Business Awards in a range of industry categories.
Precedent Productions managing director Steve Loe founded the awards more than 35 years ago to recognise the achievements and contributions made by local businesses to their communities.
Since then the Awards have grown and now run in 27 regions across Sydney, Hunter, Central Coast, South Coast, Southern Highlands and Canberra Region.
“I grew up watching how hard my parents worked in their business,” he said.
“I’d see the Academy Awards and think how much my parents deserved a trophy and recognition for all they achieved and the good things they did for the community”.
“That memory is what inspired me to establish the Local Business Awards program.”
He said the Awards offer an opportunity for people to thank Cumberland businesses for their contribution to the community, which goes beyond goods and services
“Local businesses contribute to their community’s unique identity,” he said.
“They also give back to the community by sponsoring sporting teams, supporting local charities, providing work experience for students and employment for residents of all ages,” he said.
“Nominating a business for their outstanding service or products is a great way to thank these people, who are the backbone of our community.”
He added that the Awards were only possible because of the sponsors and their support, many of whom return year after year, showing the value they place on supporting local businesses.
The Review will provide weekly updates on the progress of the Awards program ahead of the presentations on October 6, as well as running special finalists and winners features.
Anyone who nominates a deserving business will be in the running to win a GoPro Hero 8 Black, just fill in an in-store coupon or visit thebusinessawards.com.au before June 25.
