Belmore drive-thru clinic helping kick jab goals

Making it even easier to roll up your sleeve and get a lifesaving jab in the comfort and safety of your own car, Sydney’s first drive-thru vaccination hub has opened at Belmore Sports Ground.

SYDNEY’S first drive-thru vaccination hub has been a huge success with families queuing early last Friday to get the jab at Belmore Sports Ground.
State MP for Canterbury, Sophie Cotsis, said vaccination rates had been growing significantly, thanks to greater access through local pop-up-vaccination hubs, like the recent hubs achieved at Belmore All Saints and Campsie Orion Centre, and the new hub would also bolster numbers.
“Vaccinations are the key to our freedom – this drive thru vaccination hub will ensure that people continue to get access in their own backyard,” she said.
“This is a community led initiative, that has brought together medical professionals like Dr Jamal Rifi with sporting, health, volunteer and many other groups to deliver this important circuit breaker in the middle of the lockdown.”
Hundreds have already visited the clinic which will open Friday to Sunday until the end of October.
Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said the drive-through vaccination centre at Belmore Sports Ground would be a real game changer.
“You can drive through and get a Big Mac, and now you can drive through and get a vaccination,” he said.
