Bankstown’s first Twilight Corroboree

BANKSTOWN’S first Twilight Corroboree was a huge success with members of the First Nations community coming together to celebrate culture and connection at Georges Hall Community Centre in the lead up to NAIDOC Week (July 4-11).
Organised by Bankstown Community Resource Group, it was Jessy from Nulungu Dreaming who led the gathering on a cultural journey with a spiritual smoking ceremony and beautiful songs and dances from the Dreamtime, while members of the community and Connect to Culture students at Chester Hill North and Villawood East Primary schools, had a few lessons before the event and were then traditionally ochre painted and dressed to give a very respectful performance.
