Bankstown Sports Women celebrate fantastic defeat over ladder leaders

SHOWING off a string of classy partnerships, Bankstown Sports Women’s first grade side were something to be reckoned with in their smashing win at Bankstown Oval against Penrith.

Bankstown Sports batted first with Erin Burns achieving 55 while Jade Errington and Issy Wong scored a 57-run partnership before they were eventually bowled out for 215 in the 45th over.
Penrith put together some middle order partnerships which could have taken the game away until spin was introduced.
Jannatul Sumona was the pick of the bowlers with wonderful line and length along with some great variations to finish with 4/21 while Samantha Devlin contributed with 3/33.
Penrith were eventually bowled out for 147 in the 43rd over to hand Bankstown Sports their second win of the season- an important one over the ladder leaders.
Bankstown Sports second grade also had a terrific win over Penrith on a wet Bill Ball Oval after it was under water on Friday.
After being sent into bat, Bankstown Sports were able to finish 7/190 from their 50 overs with Cynthia Coghlan scoring a hard fought 57 off 98 balls.
Tyra Cooper was the pick of the bowlers with 3/8 off 3 to help Bankstown Sports bowl Penrith out for 154 off 47 overs.
Third grade had a bye.
U18 Brewer Shield were superb in the field to bowl Penrith out for 132 off 36.1 overs.
Bankstown Sports U15 Sixers Cricket League side, however, went down in another close game against Illawarra Catholic Club.
They were able to reach 4/154 off their 30 overs, while Illawarra were able to chase down the total in the last over to finish 5/156.
