Bangladeshi breakfast raises $16,324 for sick

OVER 500 people have helped raise $16,324 at the 11th annual ‘Good Morning Bangladesh (GMB)’ event last Sunday at the Australian National Sports Club in Parry Park, Lakemba.

A fundraising initiative by the Bangladeshi Australian community for the Cancer Council of NSW, the breakfast event saw organisers bring traditional, homemade Bangladeshi breakfast items which they sold at the venue.
With children having fun on the jumping castles, the MCs Usha Hannan and Suzana Sofian introduced speakers including the Consul General of Bangladesh in Sydney, Khandker Masudul Alam, physician and co-founder of the GMB, Dr Ayaz Chowdhury, State MP for Canterbury, Sophie Cotsis, Cancer Council’s Rory Alcock, Dr Rafiqur Rahman, Dr Moinul Islam and main organiser of the event, Farooq Hannan, among many others.
“It was a wonderful community event for a noble cause with active participation of people from all walks of life,” Mr Hannan said.
