Arrest over fatal crash

A TRUCK driver has been charged following investigations into a fatal crash in Riverwood last Wednesday morning.

About 8.20am, emergency services were called to the eastbound lanes of the M5, near Belmore Road, after a Volvo Prime Mover, a Mazda 6, a Hyundai i30 and a Volkswagen Polo collided.
A passenger in the Mazda, a 10-year-old boy, died at the scene.
A 13-year-old girl, travelling in the same vehicle, was taken to hospital suffering fractured ribs and head injuries. She remains in a stable condition.
The Mazda driver, a 31-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries and underwent mandatory testing at hospital.
The Hyundai driver, a 35-year-old woman, suffered a fractured wrist, while the driver of the Volkswagen, a 26-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to hospital for mandatory testing and treatment.
The truck driver, a 26-year-old man, was arrested and taken to Bankstown Hospital for mandatory testing.
He was then taken to Bankstown Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving (occasioning death) – 1st offence, negligent driving (occasioning grievous bodily harm), and cause bodily harm by misconduct – in charge of motor vehicle.

Ear lobe severed during brawl
A MAN has been charged after allegedly attacking his neighbour in Chester Hill last week.
Police were told that two men were involved in an altercation within a unit of the complex last Tuesday about 11.15am.
A 32-year-old man was found inside a unit suffering stab wounds to his back, chest and arms. He was taken to hospital in a stable condition, while a 42-year-old man was found in a nearby unit with a severed ear lobe and a cut to his arm. He was taken to hospital under police guard.
After release, he was charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Hunt after food outlet holdup
POLICE are investigating an armed robbery at a fast food restaurant in Milperra.
Last Thursday about 1.15am, two men, who had their faces covered, entered the Milperra Road store and threatened staff members with a knife while demanding cash. An amount of money was handed over and the pair ran from the scene.
It’s believed the two men involved got into a stolen grey Mazda 3, and left the scene.
No staff or patrons were injured.

Charged over wounding man
A MAN suffered a chest wound after he was allegedly attacked at Greenacre last Saturday night.
About 10.45pm, police were called to a unit on Lascelles Ave, Greenacre, following reports of an altercation between two men who are known to each other..
A 29-year-old man was treated by paramedics for a chest wound, before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.
A 28-year-old man was charged with reckless wounding (DV).
