Her chargrilled meats are so popular, in fact, that owner Dilek has introduced a ‘family board’ which features a variety of traditional cuts including tender lamb chops, beef and chicken skewers plus mini cheese pides, a range of salads, homemade dips and chips which are so good they outsell those on offer at a nearby fish and chip shop.
“My customers are really loving the ‘family board’ and they are ideal for a group gathering or function,” says Dilek who now manages Yum Yum Kebabs alongside her daughter, Sena.
“Customers often thank me for making the ‘best kebab’ or the ‘best burger’ in Sydney,” she said.
“Others love to hover over whatever is sizzling on the charcoal grill, watching the marrow render, anticipating the tender, caramelised meat.”
All halal and with vegetarian options, Yum Yum Kebab choices also include golden gozleme made fresh to order and stuffed with all sorts of tasty fillings – choose from spinach and feta, or spiced beef or lamb, Turkish Pide, shish rolls (Triple Shish includes three skewers of your choice with cabbage, tomato, onion and carrot salad, bread and free garlic dip) and beautiful falafel balls or wraps plus more.
With most of the seating alfresco, Dilek adds that she loves operating her eatery right in the centre of the Newington Marketplace.
“It’s nice and safe for children so parents can let them play while they sit back and enjoy a Yum Yum snack or meal,” she said.
With the team also happy to discuss catering needs, Yum Yum Kebabs is open seven days a week, 9am-8.30pm and can be found on UberEats and Menulog.
