All find ‘forever homes’

FOR the first time, Canterbury Bankstown Animal Shelter have zero animals up for adoption, with the impacts of Covid-19 working wonders for our furry friends.
The number of dogs impounded in Canterbury Bankstown has decreased by 25 per cent since isolation, which Mayor Khal Asfour hopes continues.
“It’s great knowing that all the animals found in Canterbury Bankstown this year have found their forever homes,” he said.
“More people are out walking their pets and utilising our dog parks, however when our lives start to get busier I hope everyone continues to do all the right things for our pets.
“Get them micro-chipped, walk them on a lead and keep them properly secured so they don’t escape.”
Male Ridgeback Marley was the most recent pet adopted from the animal shelter, spending three months there before new owner Brad Dousha adopted him last week.
“After moving into a place with a backyard and working from home part-time, I was looking for a companion,” Brad said.
“My family have always gone for rescue dogs.”
Brad was looking for a dog with a bit of maturity that he could also train himself and Canterbury Bankstown Animal Shelter had the perfect fit.
“He’s (Marley) slowly getting used to the new environment and is getting the attention he needs… He is just a big softy,” he said.
Animal Attendant Macy Heath said all the staff at the animal shelter had the greatest job of all time, looking after so many beautiful animals.
