Auburn Crime Manager Detective Inspector Andrew Evans urged people to instruct couriers to take items back to the post office to be collected if they were not going to be home to accept the delivery.
“Do not leave it in a common area,” he said.
While cautioning shoppers not to become the target of “opportunistic” thieves, he also noted that police do tend to “catch people that steal these sorts of items” because many units now have high quality security camera footage available to investigators.
