Actor hopes first book will help enhance mindfulness

SuzanMarie

ALFORDS Point actor SuzanMarie decided to do something positive to help spread happiness during last year’s lockdown when acting work seemed like a distant memory to most in the industry.

Drawing on her psychology studies, from which she graduated with an honours degree in June, she penned her first novel, ‘150 Words That Will Never Sound Angry (most of the time)’.
“I got the idea when a friend was getting stressed out about something in his life and the word ‘bubbles’ just came to me,” she said.
“I suggested he say it as a stress reliever, which he did reluctantly with all of his anger and force, and then we both just burst out laughing.
“So the idea is to introduce mindfulness into our daily conversations; we can get so caught up in what we’re talking about without listening to the words we’re actually saying.”
Containing a glossary of words that enhance mindfulness helping to boost mental health, the book has themes of humour, facts about words, culture and countries, real life events and fascinating insights into the entertainment industry.
SuzanMarie has many ideas for future books but for now, the 19-year-old actor is producing a film which she wrote and stars in called, ‘Bird on a Balcony’.
“Suitable for adults of all ages, the book has no explicit language and no triggering themes,” she said.
“I hope readers find it fun, light and positive.”
