Traditional ‘clay plate’ meals thrill

THE team at aptly named I Love Manoush restaurant in Lidcombe, are experts at creating a range of delicious Lebanese manoush as well as plenty of other mouthwatering dishes.

Owner Tarek Hoblos has been cooking up Lebanese and Middle Eastern cuisine for more than 20 years and says while Manoush is a very similar bread base to pizza, the toppings are different.
Popular with the tradies who drop by for breakfast, he says customer favourites include meat plus cheese, feta cheese plus veggies, Sujuk plus veggies and oregano plus cheese.

He added that while they did really love manoush, their menu also had a range of other tasty options.
“We serve freshly made gourmet pizza, pides, oregano rolls and desserts,” he said.
“We have also added falafel, hommus and Fatteh to the menu which are all very popular.”
The kitchen team at I Love Manoush also cook up their own foul (ful), a traditional Arabic breakfast dish made with fava beans but which tastes good at any time.
“We offer meat-based, vegetarian and gluten-free choices that are made fresh for our loyal customers every day,” he said.
“We also make ‘clay plate’ dishes cooked on a clay plate in the oven in a very traditional way, and no-one else is doing that in Sydney.
“The most popular clay plate is Awarma with eggs, made with traditionally spiced and herbed minced meat, mixed with eggs and served with fresh home-made bread, yogurt, olives and pickles.”
However customers are warned not to touch the plates as they are very hot.

Experienced in catering for parties, groups and special events, Tarek is happy to discuss the options available.
