Young experiment way to celebration

YOUNG ‘scientists’ at Lidcombe Preschool Kindergarten have celebrated Science Week by taking part in lots of experiments, investigations and learning, culminating in a Science Open Day show.

Incorporating their innovative public speaking program, children gave speeches, performed dances, recited poems and demonstrated scientific experiments on the various topics that they have studied over the past weeks.

“Family and friends who attended on the day were treated to some amazing demonstrations and were impressed by the skills and talent of our children,” Centre Director Ms Karthika said.
“We also celebrated the 50th anniversary of the moon landing and are confident that our young scientists will make significant contributions to future generations.
“Preschool class teachers Ms Bavani and Ms Jenny have been working very hard with the children and all have really enjoyed investigating and experimenting.
“It’s wonderful to see all the children growing and developing in such a positive way and so curious to learn.”
Established in 1997, National Science Week provides an opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of Australian scientists to the world of knowledge. It also aims to encourage an interest in science pursuits among the general public, and to encourage younger people to be fascinated with the world we live in.
