Teacher on charges over assaulting child at school in 1974

In 2017, Campsie detectives began an investigation following allegations of sexual abuse at the school in the early 1970s.
The allegations were raised at the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 67-year-old man at a home at Woolooware last Wednesday morning.
He was charged with five counts of assaulting a female and committing an act of indecency under 16 years and three counts of inciting a female to act of indecency aged under 16 years.
Police will allege in court that the man, who was a teacher, indecently assaulted a female student, on numerous occasions while at a school in 1974.
He was given conditional bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court on August 15.
Investigations are continuing.
