Smash drug, gun network

THREE people, including a 49-year-old Villawood man, have been charged after NSW counter terrorism detectives uncovered an illicit drug and firearm supply network.

In January 2018, detectives from the Terrorism Investigation Squad established Strike Force Ceric to investigate the illicit supply and acquisition of firearms.
As part of the investigation, detectives were also conducting inquiries into the supply of prohibited drugs and illicit tobacco across Sydney’s south-west.
During the course of the investigation, police allegedly seized more than 2.5kg of cocaine, 1kg of MDMA, more than $260,000 cash and a Ruger pistol.
Following extensive inquiries, a 30-year-old man was arrested during a vehicle stop at Lurnea last Wednesday and a short time later, a 49-year-old man was arrested in a carpark on Milperra Road, Bankstown.
Shortly after the arrests, investigators executed four search warrants at Liverpool, Merrylands, Villawood, and Wetherill Park, where they allegedly seized a further 500g of cocaine and cash.
Police will allege in court that the group are involved in the supply of prohibited drugs and firearms across Sydney.

Arrest couple over card fraud
A PUNCHBOWL home has been searched and items seized as part of an investigation into alleged fraud and stolen property in Sydney’s north west.
In April, officers from Operation Countdown launched an investigation into a number of transactions that were made using credit cards which were fraudulently obtained.
On Sunday, June 9, a 41-year-old woman was charged with two counts of using a false document to obtain property, nine counts of dishonestly obtaining property by deception, and goods in personal custody suspected to be stolen.
On June 26, a 40-year-old man was charged with eight counts of dishonestly obtaining property by deception, dishonestly obtaining financial advantage, three counts of driving motor vehicle during disqualification period and three counts driver not disclose identity of driver/passenger.
Police also searched a home in Catherine Street, Punchbowl, last Wednesday morning where they allegedly seized receipts that relate to the fraudulent transactions, multiple credit cards, mobile phones, a credit-card printing machine and other items used in manufacturing credit cards and licences.

Teen girl sex assault charges
A MAN has been charged by detectives investigating the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl earlier this year.
In March 2019, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad commenced an investigation following reports a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man she had met briefly on a previous occasion.
Following an appeal to the community earlier last week, a 24-year-old man attended Campsie Police Station at 9.30am last Thursday and was arrested.
The Lakemba man was charged with two counts of sexual intercourse with child (aged between 14 and 16), two counts of aggravated sex assault- victim under the age of 16, and intentionally sexually touch child (aged between 10 and 16).
Police will allege in court that the man sexually assaulted the girl at two locations in Belmore on March 26.
