FOR the first time, Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital is participating in Dry July to raise awareness and funds for its cancer centre.
A core team of staff are leading the fundraising charge to help raise enough money to purchase chemotherapy chairs that cost about $7,000 each.
Bankstown Cancer Centre Clinical Nurse Consultant Theresa Nielsen says they are a small centre but were looking to help improve the comfort and experience for patients.
“It’s been a real test but we are over the moon that already we have been able to raise over $4,000,” she said.
“We’re now leaning on our friends, families, colleagues and broader community to help reach our target of $15,000.”
