BUNCH rides by cyclists are officially now banned in NSW under stricter Covid-19 measures announced this week.

New caps on group gatherings mean that unless cyclists are from the same household, they are limited to just two riders together and they can only ride outdoors for the purpose of exercise, getting medical care, or going to and from the shops, work or their place of education.
The ban came into force one week after Cycling NSW strongly recommended that group rides be stopped entirely as a proactive response to the pandemic.
On Monday, March 23, Cycling NSW also closed its office at the Dunc Gray Velodrome until the end of April with staff working remotely and CEO Graham Rock Seers assured members that they would be busy “behind the scenes, making sure this sport we love comes back better and stronger than before”.
“This situation is only temporary,” he said.
“Bike racing will be back.
“We at Cycling NSW will not stop working for the benefit of cycling.
“For example, we are working with Cycling Australia to use virtual cycling platforms to keep our members riding together and having fun.
“My thoughts go out especially to our Junior U15 and U17, Under-19 and Elite track teams who worked incredibly hard to be ready for Nationals.
“I know you would have performed brilliantly, like our NSW teams always do.
“I trust that you will soon have another opportunity to show the country how well you can ride.”
