Blues’ block battle

Olympic had a golden opportunity to make an early impact in the game when Jason Madonis played a stellar ball to Charles Lokolingoy in the fourth minute, but the shot was blocked by Nicholas Littler.
A few minutes later, Wollongong took the early lead when Lachlan Scott capitalised on a blunder from Olympic goalkeeper Anthony Bouzanis.
Bouzanis dropped the ball and stumbled over teammate Zachary Mackenzie, leaving Scott in the perfect position to collect the ball and tap it into an open goal.
Olympic fired back after the half-time break, with Raul Beneit Romero setting up a perfect opportunity for Jason Madonis in the 48th minute.
The Spaniard worked his way into prime position just outside the penalty area and passed the ball back to Madonis who fired a powerful shot past Pasfield to equalise.
The pace of the game changed dramatically after the equaliser with both teams finding their rhythm and kicking into gear.
Adam Parkhouse curled a brilliant ball towards goal in the 75th minute, however veteran keeper Pasfield pulled off a great save to deny the hosts the lead.
Olympic was knocking on the door for another goal moments later with Lokolingoy making a speedy run past Nicola Djordjevic and cutting to Parkhouse in the 78th minute, put Parkhouse’s shot flew outside the sticks.
The visitors secured the win late in the game with an 89th minute goal from substitute Bul Juach.
Olympic coach Terry Palapanis was disappointed his side couldn’t take more from the match after boosting their impact in the second half.
“The disappointing part of the match for me was conceding two really soft goals,” he said.
