Service NSW Centre back as say urged on road plan

ALMOST five years after it closed Padstow RTA, the State Government will open a new Service NSW Centre in Revesby.

State MP for East Hills, Wendy Lindsay, announced on Monday that a lease had been signed to establish the new centre at Shop 2, 38-42 Marco Avenue, Revesby.
“This is great news and the new Service NSW Centre will make a real difference to the community when it opens mid-year,” she said.
“The centre will make it easier for locals to access hundreds of NSW Government transactions in one convenient location, including driver testing.”
Minister for Customer Service, Victor Dominello, said: “People go to Service NSW to get their first vehicle registration, driver licence or a Seniors Card. They can also apply for birth, death or marriage certificates.”
Ms Lindsay also invited the community to have a say on plans to widen a busy stretch of Henry Lawson Drive, to help ease congestion and improve safety including at the major intersection with Milperra and Newbridge roads.
The NSW Government is investigating upgrades to a 7.5 kilometre stretch of Henry Lawson Drive between the M5 Motorway and the Hume Highway, with community consultation beginning last Monday.
The community can have their say until Friday, March 6, 2020.
“The concept design for the project is still being developed by Transport for NSW, including how the widening would impact surrounding properties and land,” Ms Lindsay said.
“Your comments will help us to ensure we have considered your feedback. Once the concept design has been finalised, we will carry out environmental assessments and publicly display them before work starts.
“This project is critical for road users today and into the future, so Transport for NSW will be carrying out the proposed improvements in stages.”

Many locals have already shared their thoughts on the Henry Lawson Road upgrade including:

Tas Winkler “Seems to be a lot of talk going on but not much action.”
Sarah Joseph“Would be good if it ever gets started.”
Cherie Winn“It would have been clever to have done this from the very beginning.”
Rob Arnold “This really needs to be done all the way to the Meccano set asap; the congestion in peak hour is ridiculous.”
Louise Méchin“A better idea would be a flyover on Milperra Road. Why is everyone hung up on widening instead of continual traffic flow?”
