During the high-visibility police operation, 32 people were processed for drug possession, including nine Drug Criminal Infringement Notices (CINs) issued, two people were charged with fail to quit, and 45 people were ejected from the venue with two of those later charged.
Six people, allegedly found with a total of 1,878 MDMA capsules, were charged with drug supply, including a 19-year-old man who was searched with officers allegedly locating 1,005 MDMA capsules packaged in condoms and hidden in his pants and underwear, while LSD tabs and a credit card knife were located in his wallet. The Strathfield man was charged with supplying a prohibited drug – commercial quantity, possessing a prohibited drug, and custody of knife in public place.
Despite the actions of a small number of attendees, officers said the 12,000-strong crowd was generally well-behaved.
Boy crashes stolen car
TWO teenagers have been charged after an alleged police pursuit last Tuesday night.
Just before midnight, Cumberland Police had a vehicle stopped on Desmond Street, Merrylands West, when a Nissan Pulsar drove past at speed. The vehicle had been reported stolen from a Yennora address last month.
Police followed the car and attempted to stop it, however the driver failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.
A short time later, the car hit a power pole on Fowler Road, Guildford, and the two occupants fled.
A 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were arrested nearby.
The boy, from Merrylands, has been charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner and the girl, from Whalan, has been charged with being carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
Drugs worth $650,000
A MAN faces drug supply charges after Criminal Groups Squad detectives allegedly seized more than 13kg of MDMA as part of their investigation into drug supply across Sydney.
In 2019, detectives from the Criminal Group Squad established Strike Force Medgun to investigate the activities of a criminal syndicate believed to be involved in the supply of prohibited drugs.
As part of their investigations, strike force detectives executed search warrants at St Clair, Wentworth Point and Zetland last Thursday.
During the searches, police allegedly seized 13.2kg of MDMA in various forms, 240g of cocaine, items consistent with drug supply, about $6,000 cash, a Ford Ranger Wildtrak, a Mercedes C63 AMG, and various items suspected of being the proceeds of crime.
In total, the prohibited drugs have an estimated potential street value of more than $650,000.
Following further inquiries, a 29-year-old man was arrested and charged with drug supply (large commercial quantity), drug supply (commercial quantity) and knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime.
A 33-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly being found in possession of amphetamine when she returned to the Wentworth Point property. She was charged with possessing a prohibited drug.
