Sex assault arrest

A MAN has been charged over the alleged sexual assault of a teenage girl in Punchbowl.
Last week, Campsie detectives, with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, commenced an investigation following reports a 15-year-old girl was sexually abused by a man she met on social media.
Following extensive inquiries, detectives arrested a 26-year-old man outside a unit at Punchbowl early last Thursday morning and took him to Campsie Police Station where he was charged with aggravated sex assault – victim under the age of 16 years.
Police will allege in court that the man sexually assaulted the girl at a home in Punchbowl last week.

Seize weapons, cash in raid
POLICE allegedly seized firearms, weapons and cash from a home in Riverwood, with a man now facing several charges.
About 8.45pm on Sunday, November 17, a man, armed with a firearm, and a woman allegedly forced their way into a home in Arthur Street, Bankstown, where they threatened the occupants, a 31-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, before the man fled the area.
No one was injured.
Bankstown Police attended and arrested a 39-year-old woman.
She was charged with aggravated break and enter with intent, and has been bailed to appear on Wednesday, February 26.
Following extensive inquiries, investigators arrested a 30-year-old man at a service station on Duncan Street, Punchbowl, last Wednesday morning.
Shortly after, detectives, with assistance from officers from Bass Hill Region Enforcement Squad (RES), executed a search warrant at a home in Riverwood, where they allegedly located a loaded pistol, a loaded rifle, ammunition, a knife, speed cuffs and $22,350 in cash.
These items were seized to undergo forensic examination.

Disqualified, fled and crashed
A MAN from Picnic Point who is disqualified until 2025, has been charged after allegedly being caught behind the wheel.
About 6.30pm on Tuesday, January 21, the 23-year-old man was witnessed by police driving and when they attempted to stop him, he allegedly accelerated to a speed estimated to be over 100km/h in a 60km/h area. The vehicle collided with another vehicle, before being driven on the wrong side of the road and eventually abandoned. The driver was charged with driving motor vehicle during disqualification period, not stopping vehicle when directed to do so, driving recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous and not giving particulars to other driver.

Took drugs to police station
A PANANIA man who was on bail, allegedly reported to police while in possession of drugs. About 6pm on Sunday, January 19, the 20-year-old attended Revesby Police Station to report on bail. Checks indicated that he had an outstanding warrant and he was arrested and searched, during which time a prohibited substance was allegedly located. He was charged with possessing a prohibited drug and supplying a prohibited drug.
