Seniors Fest fun back

THE Seniors Festival will be back again this year with a number of exciting activities for senior residents, including day trips to Shellharbour.

Three day trips to Shellharbour are scheduled for Tuesday-Thursday, February 18-20. Tickets are $20, and include the bus fare, morning tea and lunch, and go on sale at Bankstown and Campsie Customer Service Centres from Monday, February 3.
City of Canterbury Bankstown Mayor Khal Asfour said the theme of this year’s Seniors Festival is ‘Love to Celebrate’, which is about encouraging senior members of the community to live active and connected lives.
“Our senior residents are such a special part of the Canterbury-Bankstown community, and continue to play a very important role,” he said.
“So we need to take the time to say thanks to them and our Seniors Festival program, is a way of doing that.”
The entire month of February will also feature a number of free activities for seniors to enjoy including:
• Garden art workshops at Campsie Library and Knowledge Centre, on Thursday, February 20, 10am-12.30pm;
• Movie screening of The Greatest Showman at Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre, on Monday, February 17, 10am-12pm;
• Salsa dancing classes at Bankstown Arts Centre, every Wednesday, 10am-12pm;
• Aqua Aerobics at Birrong Leisure and Aquatic Centre, every Monday, 10-11am and Max Parker Leisure and Aquatic Centre, every Tuesday, 9-10am;
• Tai Chi at the Morris Iemma Indoor Sports Centre, every Tuesday, 10-11am; and
• A scenic walk throughout the Sylvan Grove Native Garden, on Friday, February 28, 10am.
To conclude the month of celebration, a senior’s concert sponsored by Bankstown Sports Club will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2-4pm in their Grand Ballroom. The $2 entry fee will include afternoon tea and entertainment.
