Adopt Marveloo as trial flushed with popularity

A NEW portable amenities facility will help encourage more people with disability to attend and enjoy local major community events.

After Canterbury Bankstown Council successfully trialled the Marveloo at Carols in the Park at Wiley Park, it will now be rolled out at upcoming events, with the intention to enable the community to hire it for its activities.
Featuring a fully accessible toilet, overhead ceiling hoist, adjustable adult change table, air conditioning and an access ramp, it will provide carers with peace of mind that facilities will be available for their loved ones in a safe, comfortable and dignified manner.
Mayor Khal Asfour says it is important to cater for the entire community, because we don’t want anyone missing out on exciting occasions and events staged in the City.
Sue Huxtable-Jones from Disability Services Australia, says everyone has the right to access and the Marveloo is providing just that.
“It gives people the opportunity to enjoy social events where they may not have had the opportunity to attend before,” she said.
“Having the hoist and adjustable changing table is very future-thinking, catering for adults not just children.
“Something like this gives them the opportunity to feel comfortable, and it means people are not isolated and can enjoy what everybody else enjoys.”
