Australia Day party for family

THE ABC’s Splash Dance is ready to party with the little ones at this year’s Australia Day party in Holroyd Gardens with free rides, activities and food markets also part of the festival.

Mayor Steve Christou is encouraging residents to celebrate Australia’s rich cultural heritage and come together in the Holroyd Gardens to celebrate Australia Day on January 26.
“At this time every year, I often reflect on what makes Australia and in particular our region, such a great place worthy of celebration,” Mayor Christou said.
“Australia Day is one of our nation’s most loved holidays, giving people the chance to get together and celebrate what it means to be Australian, regardless of their background.
“This is a time to acknowledge the contribution of all Australians.
“It’s a time for people of all cultures to celebrate what we love about our country and where we’re heading as a nation.
“It’s so important that our children’s future is built on the values which define us as Australians – diversity, inclusion and respect. I take pride in Cumberland’s multicultural community and I am proud to be Australian.”
Australia Day celebrations in Cumberland include the Citizen of the Year and Community Pride Awards held in conjunction with a special Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony at Holroyd centre.
This will be followed by a free Australia Day event (6pm to 10pm) at Holroyd Gardens, featuring multicultural performances from Polynesia and the Caribbean, to Africa and local Indigenous talent.
The night will end with dance crew Kookies n Kream from Australia’s Got Talent, The Voice’s C Major, local rap artist D-Minor and a fireworks show.
Bring the family and join the fun!
