Try a trade day has sparked job interest

STUDENTS have been given the opportunity to ‘Try a Trade’ thanks to a collaboration between the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA) and NSW Government.

Dubbed ‘Try a Trade Day’, the students from schools were given the chance to experience life as an electrical apprentice at NECA’s purpose-built training facility in Chullora (pictured).
The day was designed to offer students insight and experience into an exciting and in-demand career in an electrical trade, as well as offer rare insights from employers, employees and experienced NECA trainees.
Despite growing demand, electrical apprenticeship commencements in NSW have dropped 4.3 per cent over the past four years, according to the latest government data. A statistic that NECA and the NSW Government says they are working to address.
