Splash out for medal wins

COMPETITORS from the Auburn Swim Club’s team have already collected a swag of medals in the first three days of the NSW Senior State Age Championships.

On day one, 16-year-old Ben Comer picked a fourth in the Boys 16 Years 100m freestyle event, while Natalia Jovanovic, 14, Rylee Smith, 14, Lara Tolic, 14, and Brooke Asbury, 14, finished seventh in the Girls 12-14, 4x50m freestyle relay.
The second day of competition also saw Comer pick up silver with teammates, Alex Quach, 18, Vanya Kamenjas, 17, Ricky Betar, 16, in the Boys 12-18, 4x100m Freestyle Relay.
Day two also saw gold going to both 18-year-old Tim Hodge in the Boys 15 and Over 200m Individual Medley Multi-Class (MC), and 16-year-old Jasmine Tran in the Girls 16 Year Olds 100m breaststroke, while Jenna Jones finished with a silver medal in the Girls 15 and Over 200m Individual Medley MC.
Hodge also picked up gold on day three in the Boys 15 and Over 100m Freestyle MC, and finished an impressive eighth in the able-bodied Boys 18 and Over 400m Individual Medley.
Bianca Walton also won silver in Girls 15 Year Olds 400m Freestyle.
Swimmers Alison Sakurovs, 34, and Vanessa Ozols, 14, from the Merrylands Amateur Swimming Club, also competed in two events each during the championship which began on Friday, December 13, and continues through until tomorrow, Wednesday, December 18.
