Season start thriller

SYDNEY Olympic will take on this year’s champions, the Wollongong Wolves, when the NSW NPL season kicks off.

Football NSW has released the draw and Olympic’s first match for 2020, will be at Belmore Sportsground on March 1.
Sydney Olympic FC CEO John Boulous welcomed the release of the NSW NPL draw.
“It is great to be at home in Round 1 against the 2019 NSW NPL and National champions, the Wollongong Wolves,” he said.
“We will be hoping for a great crowd to start the season.
“The squad is shaping up with our new major signings Fabio Ferreira, Adam Parkhouse, Bai Antoniou, Raul Beneit Romero and Anthony Bouzanis fitting in well.
“We are excited to be having two First Grade Men’s and Women’s double headers at Belmore this season, which will be huge events on our calendar this season.”
The squad has been training since early November and will break for Christmas next Friday, December 19. They will resume from Wednesday, January 8 and commence trial matches on the first weekend on February.
A Football NSW spokesperson said with football riding on a massive high after a massive 2019 season, the sport was expecting an even bigger boost for the 2020 campaign across all its elite competitions.
