Arrest for spiking woman’s cocktail

A MAN has been charged over an alleged drink spiking incident at a hotel in Newtown last week.

On Friday, November 22, a 27-year-old woman who attended a hotel in Newtown with friends, was seated at a table with the group and was drinking a cocktail before leaving her drink unattended to use the bathroom.
Police will allege a 28-year-old man sat down at the table and leaned over the woman’s drink and spiked it with GHB.
The woman returned to her seat and consumed the beverage before collapsing.
She was taken to hospital where blood tests later confirmed the drug GHB in her system.
The matter was reported to officers at Inner West Police Area Command and an investigation was commenced.
About 1pm on Tuesday, the 28-year-old man was arrested at his place of employment.
He was charged with administer poison etc intend injure/cause distress/pain.
