Grow ‘mo to help others

MEN are three times more likely to die from suicide and more men die of prostate cancer than women do of breast cancer, but this type of cancer receives much less funding.

In light of these disturbing figures, community leaders, including Lakemba MP Jihad Dib and Canterbury Bankstown Councillor Steve Tuntevski, are getting behind Movember this month and urging others to do the same.
“It’s never too late to join the campaign,” Cr Tuntevski said.
“Last year, 89 council staff and two of us councillors took part in Movember, raising $4,650 for men’s health.
“I am proud of our organisation for putting men’s health on the radar. This year we are once again involved in Movember.”
Mr Dib said: “We can all do our bit to raise awareness of real issues affecting men; for me and one of my staff who is also growing his moustache, this is our way of contributing to the conversation. It’s our way of saying, you are not alone.”
