Pizza, pasta passion to wow

FOR a vibrant, family atmosphere and a great pizza, Pomodorino is a slice above the rest.

More like a pizzeria in Italy with a woodfired oven, than a restaurant, the eatery has attracted a faithful following since its opening nearly a year ago with many clamouring for a delicious feed on their way to a night out at the Enmore, Factory or Flightpath theatres – all located nearby – and it’s easy to understand why.
Chef Manuel has been indulging in his pizza, pasta passion for over 23 years and has trained with some of Italy’s best.

Wife Samar said: “Our pasta is just so silky, smooth and delicious. We’ve been selling out of it at the end of every service; we had to make the linguine three times last week, that’s 30 or 40 dishes at a time, because you will not find better than our prawn or crab linguine. The octopus salad is also a big winner.
“All dishes are made from scratch even the scrumptious desserts; the pasta is high protein (gnocchi’s a firm favourite) with no preservatives or additives and the pizza bases are 30 percent wholemeal plus we have gluten free and vegan options, even vegan cheese.
“We offer some beautiful alternatives in case a customer isn’t after a pizza or pasta, including eye fillet steak, fish of the day and spatchcock, with some diners already saying when they ring up to book, ‘make sure you have enough spatchcock, we can’t wait to have it again’.”
With home deliveries on Deliveroo, Pomodorino is BYO and licensed.
“We have the oldest brewed, handcrafted beer from Italy on tap too,” Samar said.
“Called Menabrea, it has stood the test of time since 1846 and is very popular.”
With Christmas looming, now is the time to book for large or intimate, corporate or family functions.
“I had a teacher bring 40 high school boys in for pizza and we couldn’t believe there was not a crumb left,” Samar added.
“A lot of those boys have since returned too, bringing in their own families.
“So many people say, ‘wow, I’ve never had pizza like this before’, so if you haven’t tried it yet, what are you waiting for?”
