POLICE have arrested a 62-year-old man after a 57-year-old woman was allegedly fatally stabbed in Berala yesterday.

Auburn Police responded to reports of an alleged stabbing at a home on Harrow Road just before 10am and arrived at the address to find the woman suffering multiple stab wounds. She was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but died at the scene.
Acting superintendent Chris Laird said police were investigating the circumstances surrounding the death but they believed it was a domestic violence related incident.
Describing the events as “traumatic and horrible for everyone involved”, he said it also appeared that three young children, thought to be the couple’s grandchildren, were being looked after at the home during the incident and may have seen what happened.
“If (the children) did witness it, that’s just a horrible thing to have happened,” he said.
Inquiries are continuing and police have asked anyone who was in the area at the time and may have information or dash cam vision of the incident to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
