A WREATH laying ceremony was held at the Auburn War Memorial on Monday to mark the day 101 years ago when on November 11, 1918, the guns on the Western Front fell silent after more than four years of continuous warfare.
While honouring the end of World War One, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month has also become associated with the remembrance of all those who have died in warfare.
Among those taking part in the Auburn Remembrance Day service were Cumberland Councillors George Campbell and Glenn Elmore, Cumberland RSL sub branch vice president Ron Inglis and president Greg Read, Major Kelliegh Jackson and State MP for Auburn Lynda Voltz.
