Step up to help raise vital funds

TAKING part in her third Stride4Stroke this November, Canterbury resident Rosemary Vieira is keen to raise as many funds as possible to support the Stroke Foundation’s vital research programs to help find a cure and support sufferers.

Rosemary’s mother Anilda had a stroke earlier this year and survived. Sadly, father Jose was not so lucky, losing his life in May after suffering a massive stroke.
“Almost every family has been touched by stroke and it’s an awful way to lose a loved one or to see them struggling in recovery,” she said.
“That’s why it is so important for everyone to get behind the Stride4Stroke campaign and make a donation, it doesn’t matter how small, as every little bit helps.”
Stroke Foundation Chief Executive Officer Sharon McGowan applauded Rosemary for striding and encouraged others to join her.
“One in four of us will experience a stroke in our lifetime; there is one stroke in Australia every nine minutes,” Sharon said.
“Stroke is no longer a death sentence for many but for the stroke survivors and their families living in our community, its impact is far reaching.”
Every dollar raised through Stride4Stroke will go towards vital Stroke Foundation programs like the free telephone advice service StrokeLine (1800 787 653) and EnableMe, an online support service which helps survivors transition to life back home after stroke.
