Helping those doing it tough

DONATIONS of coloured pencils, pens and other basic items can make a real difference to families doing it tough. East Hills View Club members Marilyn Steven, Avril Badder, Peta Geldard, Helen White and Jan McKenzie look over the items collected through their annual stationery drive to support the Smith Family’s Learning For Life program.

ADDING up to several hundred dollars of a wide variety of goods, the members of East Hills VIEW Club undertook their annual stationery drive at their monthly meeting on Monday.
This collection will be delivered to Briar Road Public School. This disadvantaged school in south west Sydney, is supported through the Smith Family’s Learning for Life program.
“These goods will be used in facilitating that program as many of the students involved are unable to purchase them for themselves,” VIEW Club President Jan McKenzie said.
“The members are pleased to contribute each year in this small way.”
View (Voice, Interests and Education for Women) is a national club with members from all backgrounds who meet regularly to engage in social activities and outings, with a view to forming new friendships as well as supporting the Smith Family, raising funds through monthly lunches and small fees for activities.
“We also sponsor two individual students who have been identified by their school as needing support,” Jan added.
“We look forward to their letters and cards and we follow their academic progress with interest.”
