Last month, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad, commenced an investigation following reports a boy was indecently assaulted by a man known to him when he was at a home at Lakemba.
Following extensive investigations, detectives arrested a 29-year-old man at Campsie Police Station last Thursday and charged him with indecent assault person under 16 years of age.
Police will allege in court that the man indecently assaulted the boy – then aged six – between December 2013 and January 2014.
The Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad comprises detectives who are specially trained to investigate matters against children and adults, including sexual assault, serious physical abuse, and extreme cases of neglect.

Man had knife in public place
POLICE allegedly found a knife while searching a man in Bankstown last week.
Last Wednesday at 11.15am, police were conducting foot patrols of the Old Town Plaza Bankstown when they had reason to speak with a 37-year-old male from Bankstown.
A search allegedly revealed he was in possession of a knife.
Police seized the knife and the man was issued a court attendance notice.
Charged over striking officer
A MAN, 27, has been charged with affray and assault police.
It is alleged a police officer was struck while investigating a brawl between guests at a function centre in Bankstown on Saturday, October 5. The Bringelly man was given conditional bail until October 30.
Stole from vulnerable clients
A WOMAN has been charged after allegedly stealing in excess of $40,000 worth of jewellery and cash while working in the support service industry.
Police have been told that between December 2018 and October 2019, jewellery and cash has been stolen from the homes of terminally ill and disabled people in Wiley Park, Bexley, Drummoyne and Doonside.
Following an investigation by the there police commands affected, a 46-year-old woman was arrested at a shopping centre in Blacktown while allegedly attempting to sell stolen jewellery.
It is alleged that the woman has sold stolen items in five known pawn stores in Blacktown, providing false information on each occasion.
The 46-year-old, from Blacktown, is employed by numerous support agencies within the disability sector, where she attends the homes of terminally ill and disabled persons for domestic and hygiene assistance.
The woman has been charged with six counts of stealing property in a dwelling-house and four counts of make/furnish a statement which is false/misleading.
