Arrest over home invasion and theft

A 19-YEAR-OLD man has been charged in relation to an alleged armed home invasion in Merrylands earlier this year.
On July 9 at 3am, a resident at the Woodville Road home answered a knock on his door and was allegedly confronted by a man armed with a machete knife who forced his way inside followed by three other men.
It is alleged that the man holding the knife demanded money and another man hit the resident with a pool cue.
The group allegedly then stole a sum of money, cigarettes, a wrist watch and a phone before leaving.
Following a three-month investigation, police arrested a Croydon Park man on Thursday, October 3, and charged him with aggravated enter dwelling while armed and robbery armed with offensive weapon.
Inquiries are continuing.

Recover stolen goods
A LARGE quantity of allegedly stolen goods have been recovered following two car chases over the long weekend.
On Friday, October 4, officers attempted to stop a Lexus SUV – allegedly fitted with stolen registration plates – in Mortlake, however it crashed into a power pole after a short chase.
Police caught a 23-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman who fled the scene but a third man escaped.
When officers searched the vehicle, they allegedly found jewellery, bank cards, bags, car keys and cash, all believed to be stolen from the Northern Beaches area in August.
The woman was charged with a number of offences including being carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner, resist officer in execution of duty, three counts of receive property and two counts of break enter and steal.
A man, who received hospital treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, was charged with be carried in conveyance, resist officer in execution of duty and receive/dispose stolen property.
Following further investigations, on Saturday police went to a motel in Lidcombe where a white car allegedly fled the scene and was chased along Olympic Drive before colliding with three other vehicles as it approached Rawson Street and St Hilliers Road in Auburn.
A 26-year-old woman, who was in the front passenger seat, allegedly tried to run away but was arrested by police, while the 31-year-old driver was chased to the intersection of St Hilliers Road and Hall Street.
It’s alleged he jumped into a car to try to escape, however he was caught by a pursuing officer and later taken to Westmead Hospital for an unrelated health issue.
A four-year-old girl, who was in the back seat of the vehicle, was distressed but uninjured and three people in the cars which were hit also escaped injury.
Officers allegedly also found a large amount of property – believed to be the proceeds of crime – in both the car and the motel room and investigations are continuing.
