Work out wishlist before starting hunt

MANY people start looking at properties before they’ve worked out what they want, says John Owsnett, Principal of Chambers Fleming Professionals Padstow.

Let’s assume that you are buying a property with your partner, as is often the case, the most important thing is to sit down and make a list of your needs and wants.
“Sometimes it can be useful to make the list independently and then sit down together and discuss what you are both looking for,” John said.
“What you will find is that your needs will invariably trump your wants.”
John says the reason you write a list is because it will save you a lot of time and angst because you will actually be able to narrow down an area of where you will be looking in and also what type of property you are looking for.
“Be sure to understand what it is you are after,” he said.
