Hunt for witness after elderly pedestrian, 84, struck by car

AN elderly man remains in a critical condition after being hit by a car at Merrylands West on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Fowler Road at 5pm after reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car.
According to NSW Police, initial inquiries suggest a Volkswagen Golf driven by a 21-year-old man, might have hit a parked car prior to hitting an 84-year-old Merrylands man as he was walking past.
The injured man was treated at the scene for a head injury by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital.
The 21-year-old driver of the Volkswagen was also taken to Westmead Hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit are continuing their inquiries and would like to hear from anyone who might have seen the Volkswagen travelling along Kenyons and Fowler roads before the incident.
Anyone with information or dashcam footage that may assist the investigation is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
