Robbery spree

A MAN has been charged after an alleged four-hour armed robbery spree across Narwee and Peakhurst last Tuesday evening.

Facing theft, gun charges

Police allege the man drove to a bottle shop on Forest Road in Peakhurst and purchased a case of beer at 5.30pm, and as the shop employee placed the case in the car and asked for payment, the man allegedly produced a firearm and demanded money from the cash register.
Twenty minutes later, he drove to a convenience store on the corner of Hannans and Penshurst roads at Narwee, again allegedly producing a firearm and demanding money.
At 9.45pm the same day, a service station on Bryant Street, Narwee, was allegedly robbed by a man matching the description of a person involved in the previous events, in a similar car. In each of the three hold-ups, he escaped with money.
Police investigations led them to George Street in Mortdale where they arrested a 27-year-old man in a car park.
Police seized his car and while searching the vehicle, allegedly located two firearms, one being a sawn-off air rifle and a second rifle.
It’s alleged ammunition was also located, along with proceeds from the three robberies earlier in the day.
He faces three charges of robbery while armed with a dangerous weapon, possessing a shortened firearm and possessing an unregistered firearm.
