Affordable roof over heads

THE Canterbury-Bankstown area will benefit from much-needed affordable housing for very low to moderate income earners thanks to the launch of Kings Landing, a 26-apartment development in Roselands.

As community housing project launches at Roselands

Supported by the NSW Government, Kings Landing is a new community housing project that was developed through a partnership between Evolve Housing and Pacific Link Housing.
Managed by Evolve Housing, the development was officially launched during an event on last week, with project partners, Mayor Khal Asfour and other dignitaries in attendance.
Designed to be convenient and to connect residents with their community, Kings Landing is a 10-minute walk to Roselands Shopping Centre, while a 10-minute bus ride to Beverly Hills Station makes the location accessible to many employment opportunities.
Evolve Housing CEO Lyall Gorman said: “Sydney rents are high and often out of reach for even moderate income earners, who have to spend an unsustainable proportion of their income to keep a roof over their heads.” Resident Donna Te Kanawa said of her home: “It’s like winning the lotto!”
Evolve Housing also runs regular programs to help residents learn life management skills including workshops to manage money; social events; grants to support study, children in sport; financial assistance with no interest loans; and links to training and employment support services.
