JUST awarded 'Tourism VET Student of the Year' for her efforts as a Year 11 student in 2017, Georges River Grammar's Katie Ward is giving herself as many opportunities for career success as possible.
As well as studying Tourism, she is also undertaking Retail Services, Business Services and Hospitality through the VET scheme.
And if that is not enough, Katie is completing Animal Studies outside of school through TAFE.
Saying she is unsure whether she will end up working as a zoologist, tourism operator or running a business or restaurant, Katie is just keen to get as many learning and workplace experiences under her belt as possible.
"I love all of my courses; they are all so enjoyable," she said.
"The VET courses are wonderful for getting job experience, expanding knowledge and confidence and getting life skills.
"I would definitely recommend VET courses for students wanting to get experience in a range of areas."
Bankstown Sports hosted the MWLP Student Work Placements Awards at the end of March to acknowledge the achievements of Year 12 students who have excelled in their chosen career paths, with Georges River Grammar student Gladys Coker also among the finalists for the Tourism award.
