A GRANVILLE truck driver has been slapped with a fine for allegedly transporting building waste without an approved cover on his truck.
Environment Protection Authority (EPA) fined the driver $750 after the alleged breach was discovered last month joint-compliance operation carried out in conjunction with Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) and NSW Police at Sydney Olympic Park.
The tipper truck was stopped during the operation after EPA officers allegedly found the vehicle's tray was not fully covered.
EPA acting director for waste compliance Cate Woods said no leniency was shown to the driver after it was discovered that his originally effective tarpaulin was allegedly removed four years ago.
"Waste that is transported by a motor vehicle or trailer, must be covered to prevent waste spilling, leaking or otherwise escaping," she said.
