LAST week's tragedy is 'every parent's nightmare' and the thoughts and prayers of the community are with the families and the entire school community.
NSW Education Minister Rob Stokes says he cannot begin to comprehend the sadness being felt by the parents and families of the two young boys who have died.
"Our first priority is to support students, staff and parents by any means necessary and allow them time to properly grieve," he said.
"This will not be a quick process and we will work together with the school community to provide whatever assistance we can."
Mr Stokes thanked the school staff and emergency services personnel.
"I thank them for all their best efforts and quick action as they worked to save lives," he said.
State MP for Lakemba and Shadow Education Minister Jihad Dib said the tragedy was every parent's nightmare.
"As a former teacher and school principal I can say that while our training prepares us for a variety of difficult scenarios, nothing can really prepare you for the shock and the grief of a tragedy like this," he said.
"This is a shock that has absolutely torn through our community and society at large".
