A CONDELL Park school is taking a new approach to what some call the most important meal of the day - breakfast.
Condell Park Public School, with the help of parents, hosts the 'Breakfast Club' every Tuesday and Thursday from 8.30am to 9am before the start of classes.
School principal Sian Websdale says a healthy breakfast is essential in giving students a good start to the day.
"Research has shown that students who eat breakfast can demonstrate improved concentration," Mrs Websdale said.
In 2016, a parent approached Mrs Websdale, to see if the school could run a breakfast program.
"We have been lucky enough to receive support from within and beyond our local community to run the program every Tuesday and Thursday morning since then," she said.
"We have some wonderful volunteer parents and have received support from both Kelloggs and Anglicare in the form of cereal, milk and fruit cups.
"There is no charge for the breakfast club and we take great heart in knowing we are getting our students off to a healthy start to the day."
Meanwhile, the school will combine food and art when it hosts an exhibition of students work, along with a free barbecue.
The school's community liaison officer, Rima Daoura says the event will be held on Wednesday, December 6, with the barbecue getting underway from 4pm, and an auction of the children's artwork from 5.30pm.
