WALKING side by side to honour the precious lives lost to suicide, this year's Together 4 Hope Community Walk will be held on Thursday, October 12.
Community project officer Saada Abdikarim said the annual walk was organised by Cumberland Council and the Together 4 Hope Committee, a group of community organisations whose purpose is to create events and activities to prevent suicide and support those who have experienced its impacts.
"A united community declaring every life is important, we wish to assist in preventing suicide and reducing the impact of suicide on friends and family," she said.
"The Together 4 Hope Suicide Prevention Campaign is open to everyone.
"The Walk is held during Mental Health Week as a symbol of our desire to create a community that cares for everyone and affirms hope.
"Join the walk to open the dialogue needed to prevent suicide. Let's join hands to raise awareness of the issue of suicide in our community."
Registrations open from 5.30pm at Auburn Public School on the corner of Beatrice Street and Harrow Road with children's activities, sign making, entertainment and refreshments.
Walkers will be provided with a candle, and the march will leave at 6.45pm to walk to Auburn Central before winding up with a free sausage sizzle.
