THE countdown has begun to find our best businesses, with nominations now being sought for the inaugural Cumberland Business Awards.
The Cumberland Local Business Awards, is an opportunity for members of the community to recognise businesses that provide outstanding goods and services.
Precedent Productions Managing Director Steve Loe started presenting awards for businesses in 1985 to recognise the efforts of business owners and their staff.
Customers nominate and vote for businesses in industry categories, with the winners then eligible to be chosen as the overall Business of the Year.
Newington Dental realised how much their clients appreciated their professionalism and care last year when they not only won the Outstanding Health Improvement Services category but took out the overall Business of the Year award too.
Owner Keith Hengpoonthana said it was a great honour.
"It was totally unexpected," he said.
"It is nice to be recognised for all the hard work we put into the business.
"It's a worthwhile experience, if not for the promotion of your business but really to realise the purpose of your business, what you stand for and what is the drive behind what you do every day.
"We humbly thank our patients and the community for their continued support."
The Cumberland Local Business Awards are made possible by the ongoing support of major sponsors Cumberland Council, Stockland Merrylands and Primewest Auburn Megamall and support sponsors, Dooleys Catholic Club Lidcombe, Merrylands RSL Club and Merrylands Chamber of Commerce.
