CELEBRATING International Women's Day last week, the Greenacre Area Community Centre in partnership with the Bankstown Women's Health Centre, hosted a popular event for local women.
Over 80 attended, with the women taking part in a range of activities including yoga, henna tattoo, massage and facials as well as trying out a range of herbal teas.
Greenacre Area Community Centre executive officer Maria Votano welcomed the women and thanked them for all the work they do as women, acknowledging that most women do not take enough time out for themselves.
"The event was an opportunity for women to make new connections, pamper themselves and take some time out," she said.
Federal MP for Watson, Tony Burke, explained to the crowd that he had set up a Women's Network in the area and encouraged the group to feed through any women's issues.
Ms Votano, who is a member of the Women's Network, also encouraged women to raise any concerns or issues with the centre.
Bankstown Women's Health Centre also outlined the services available through their centre such as pap tests, counselling, dietitian, domestic violence and women's support groups.
