Girls best in State

STAR jumping, kicking up their heels and shuffle dancing their way to yet another win, a group of Year 5 and 6 girls from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Georges Hall, have been declared the overall state victors in the School Aerobic Championships.

Beat dozens of schools yet only began aerobics this year

After winning the regional final in May, Principal Monica Palmer had her fingers crossed that her students would have what it takes to go all the way to the national finals.
“And now they have done just that,” she said.
“None of them had done aerobics before this year so it really is a remarkable achievement.
“We are just so excited since they have been working so hard – all through the holidays, early mornings and lunch breaks – to ensure their aerobics routine was excellent and their work has paid off.
“In our division, called ‘Classic’, we beat dozens of schools from around the State but seemed to to be the only local school.
“We are so pleased to be in first place, gold medal winners for the NSW School Aerobics.
“We are now eligible to compete in the nationals in Queensland in August but certainly need some help to get there and will be holding some fundraisers to help subsidise costs.”
Any resident able to make a donation to help the team get to the nationals, can call Ms Palmer on 9727 0000.
